International Dealing

To be able to buy and sell international stocks and shares your account must be a nominee account and you must complete a W-8BEN form. This is due to a United States Government rule concerning withholding tax. Under these rules we need to ensure that the correct amount of US withholding tax is deducted. This documentation, known as form W-8BEN by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), will detail your particular tax status and residence and will need to be updated every three years.

If you are a US citizen, please contact us on 0870 60 65 023.

Trade in international shares

If you are a new customer simply choose "International Dealing" in the application form. We will then send you the relevant documentation for you to sign.

Or:

If you are an existing customer and wish to upgrade your account so you can trade in international shares. Download the W-8BEN form (67 KB PDF file) and read the Guidance Notes For Completion (44 KB PDF file).
Get acrobat reader from www.adobe.com to read these forms.
